Clotrimazole API BP/USP

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent from the imidazole class. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, mouth, and vagina, including:
1. Dermatophytosis (e.g., athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm)
2. Candidiasis (vaginal, oral, or skin yeast infections)
3. Tinea infections
4. Pityriasis versicolor
5. Oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush)
It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, resulting in leakage of cellular contents and fungal cell death.
