Tri-n-butyltin hydride (TBT) is a reagent commonly used as a reducing agent and radical initiator in organic synthesis. It is often used as an intermediate in the synthesis of organotin compounds, such as tri-n-butyltin chloride and tri-n-butyltin iodide, which have applications as catalysts in organic reactions. TBT can also be used as a precursor in the synthesis of other tin-containing compounds, such as diorganotin bis(thiolates), which are used in polymer stabilization and as catalysts.
