Description: EMPACON MET 5/500 TABLET is a combination of two anti-diabetic agents: Empagliflozin (5 mg), a sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and Metformin Hydrochloride (500 mg), a biguanide. This formulation helps lower blood glucose levels by enhancing glucose excretion via urine and decreasing hepatic glucose production and intestinal glucose absorption, while improving insulin sensitivity. It is mainly prescribed for managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, especially when monotherapy is insufficient.
