When administered as an injection, the dosage and duration of treatment with apomorphine hydrochloride depend on the patient’s age, weight, and response to the medication. The usual starting dose for adults is 2 mg, administered subcutaneously or as a continuous infusion. The dose may be increased as needed to a maximum of 6 mg per dose.
As with any medication, apomorphine hydrochloride may cause side effects in some people. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Less common side effects may include confusion, hallucinations, and low blood pressure.
